About the conference

Critical Chain Project Management, developed by Eliyahu Goldratt, is widely used by numerous organizations worldwide, including Mazda Motors, Embraer, and the United States Air Force. The results achieved through this approach are remarkable, with a majority of implementations reducing project durations by half. It enables projects to meet deadlines and doubles the productivity of individuals involved in the work.

In 1997, Eliyahu Goldratt published the novel "Critical Chain," which explains this method through a business story, similar to his worldwide bestseller "The Goal." Although he passed away in 2011, his daughter now revisits the subject, incorporating lessons learned over the past two decades. Initially, the justification for Critical Chain (hence its name) was based on an analysis of task duration variability, seen as the primary hindrance to project management performance.

The proposed "solution" involved using optimistic estimates for tasks and incorporating buffers for projects. However, it was later discovered that "bad multitasking" was actually the main cause of problems in most project environments. These insights gradually led to the development of "Rules of Flow" applied to projects.

In this new approach to project management based on the Theory of Constraints, Efrat Goldratt-Ashlag presents eight rules of flow. However, she emphasizes in this webinar that these rules should not be seen as a strict recipe or a fixed set of guidelines to follow. Instead, they represent a list of potential rules that each organization can use as inspiration based on its specific environment.

Efrat explains the usefulness of this list but also highlights that the hierarchy and sequence of implementation depend on the specific issues encountered in different project environments, which vary greatly.

During this webinar, Efrat describes the most important rules of flow while sharing numerous anecdotes about the emergence of Critical Chain and the challenges and frustrations faced by her father, Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, who conceived this revolutionary project management method and improved it through feedback and practical implementations.

The conclusion of the webinar was dedicated to a question-and-answer session.
