IAMGOLD - Implementation of Critical Chain for a CAPEX project in the mining industry

IAMGOLD applied CCPM for the Mill Upgrade project at the Essakane mine in Burkina faso, which led to leadtime reduction in logistic and installation operations of new equipment

Stéphane Castillo, project manager at IAMGOLD, explains the implementation of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) in his company.

 

Although encountering great difficulties such as complex logistic management due to the sourcing of new equipment from foreign countries far away and heavy construction work, the implementation of the methodology led to excellent results: the project was completed with several months ahead of the initially agreed deadline despite the global pandemic. IAMGOLD has then decided to deploy the methodology to other projects in the same gold mine.
